Political leaders in Karnataka, both from the ruling BJP and the opposition JD(S), have welcomed the Centre’s decision to confer the Bharat Ratna on veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani. Former CM and BJP stalwart B S Yediyurappa praised Advani’s role in the Ram Temple movement and expressed his happiness over the announcement. He also mentioned attending a public meeting addressed by Advani during the demolition of Babri Masjid. Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai also expressed his joy and called Advani ”the real son of the soil”, highlighting his contributions to the country. JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy extended his greetings to Advani and commended the government for recognizing his accomplishments. Leader of Opposition R Ashoka from the BJP hailed Advani’s principled stance and his role in the Ramajyoti movement in India. Pejavar Math seer Vishwa Prasanna Teertha in Udupi also praised Advani as a representative of value-based politics and acknowledged his leadership in the Ayodhya Ram temple movement. Overall, these political leaders from different parties in Karnataka have applauded the decision to honor Lal Krishna Advani with the Bharat Ratna.
