Revanth Reddy, the Chief Minister of Telangana, recently met with former Congress President Sonia Gandhi to discuss the upcoming general elections of 2024. During the meeting, Reddy appealed to Gandhi to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Telangana, citing her important role in the state’s history and the people’s view of her as a mother figure. He also informed Gandhi about the progress made in fulfilling the government’s promises, including the implementation of two guarantees and preparations for a BC caste census. Additionally, Reddy had previously met with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra’ in Ranchi. The meeting has raised questions about where Sonia Gandhi will contest the general elections, as there is speculation about whether she will contest from a different seat instead of her traditional seat in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh. Gandhi has indicated that she will make a decision on the request to contest from Telangana at the right time. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and State Revenue Minister P. Srinivas Reddy.
