Political Leaders Have Mixed Reactions to Interim Budget

Must read

The interim budget for 2024-25 presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament has received a mixed response from political leaders. BJP’s National General Secretary Tarun Chugh praised the budget for its focus on the welfare of the poor and its commitment to development and progress. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Sitharaman for their work on the budget. J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina also praised the budget, stating that it will empower youth, women, and farmers, and create new job opportunities. He also highlighted provisions for housing and healthcare benefits. However, JKPCC Chief Vikar Rasool Wani of the Congress criticized the budget for not providing relief to the common man, salaried class, and unemployed youth. He called it disappointing and focused on election-related achievements rather than addressing the hardships faced by these groups. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) also criticized the budget, stating that it revealed the grim economic situation facing India’s working people and highlighted the government’s focus on making the rich richer and the poor poorer. Despite revenue receipts exceeding budget estimates, government expenditures have been squeezed below budget estimates. Overall, the budget has been praised by some for its focus on welfare and development, but criticized by others for not addressing the hardships faced by the common people.
