Must read

Indian Olympic medal-winning boxer Vijender Singh has hinted at leaving politics ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This was conveyed through a post on social media platform X, where Vijender wrote “Rajneeti Ko Ram Ram Bhai” on Thursday. This comes after Congress’s inability to win elections in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh. Vijender was last seen in the wrestlers’ protest at Jantar Mantar and participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra but has been relatively quiet in politics since. He joined the Congress in 2019 with the goal of serving the countrymen but has now hinted at stepping back from politics ahead of the upcoming elections. In 2019, when he joined politics, Vijender expressed his desire to serve the countrymen and thanked the INC India party, Rahul Gandhi ji, and Priyanka Gandhi ji for the opportunity. However, he ran in the Lok Sabha polls in 2019 and lost from South Delhi, securing only 13.56% of the votes and losing his deposit.
Vijender is known for securing a bronze medal for India in boxing at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, which made him the first Indian to win a medal in boxing at the Games. Apart from this, he has also won bronze medals at the 2009 World Championships and 2010 Commonwealth Games, as well as silver medals at the 2006 and 2014 Commonwealth Games. While Vijender had high hopes for his political career when he joined the Congress party, his recent actions and social media post hint at a potential departure from politics as the Lok Sabha elections approach.
The Indian Olympic medal-winning boxer Vijender Singh has hinted at his departure from politics ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Vijender, who joined the Congress party in 2019 and ran as a candidate in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, shared a post on the social media platform X, in which he wrote “Rajneeti Ko Ram Ram Bhai”. This hint of stepping back from politics comes after the recent election losses faced by Congress in states like Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh. Despite participating in events such as the wrestlers’ protest at Jantar Mantar and the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Vijender has been relatively absent from politics recently. His 2019 entry into politics was motivated by a desire to serve the countrymen, and he expressed his gratitude to the INC India party, Rahul Gandhi ji, and Priyanka Gandhi ji for the opportunity. However, things did not go as planned for Vijender in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, where he lost from South Delhi, securing only 13.56% of the votes and losing his deposit. Vijender is known for his achievements in boxing, including winning a bronze medal for India at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and securing bronze medals at the 2009 World Championships and the 2010 Commonwealth Games, as well as silver medals at the 2006 and 2014 Commonwealth Games. Despite these accomplishments, Vijender’s political career appears to be at a crossroads as he hints at a potential exit from politics ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
