Political leaders in India have reacted to Nitish Kumar’s decision to leave the Grand Alliance in Bihar and rejoin the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance. Kumar, the president of the JD(U), has been appointed as the acting chief minister and is expected to take oath along with two deputy CMs from the BJP. This move comes just months before the Lok Sabha election in India. The Grand Alliance in Bihar consists of the RJD, the Congress, and other Left Parties. This is Kumar’s fifth switch to a political alliance in a decade, and he has faced criticism from other politicians for his decision.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that he knew this would happen, and Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh described Kumar as a seasoned politician who keeps changing his political colors. RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari said that the public will demand an account for Kumar’s actions, and former Union minister and BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad expressed confidence in the BJP’s electoral prospects in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
JD(U) leader KC Tyagi criticized the Congress for wanting to steal the leadership of the Grand Alliance and accused them of delaying seat sharing, while Kumar himself said that he left the alliance because the state of affairs within the ruling alliance was not good. He cited the failure to live up to expectations and discharge their duties as a reason for leaving the alliance.
Overall, Kumar’s decision to leave the Grand Alliance and rejoin the NDA has caused a major shake-up in the political landscape in Bihar just months before the Lok Sabha election. His actions have been met with both criticism and support from various political leaders, and it remains to be seen how this move will affect the upcoming election.
