Shahbaz Sharif takes oath as Pakistan’s Prime Minister for the second time following elections

Must read

Shahbaz Sharif was sworn in as Pakistan’s Prime Minister for the second time after the general elections earlier this year. The ceremony was attended by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, and other PML-N workers, as well as PPP leader and Sindh chief minister Murad Ali Shah. This swearing-in comes after a successful confidence vote where the government won the majority of parliament seats. Shahbaz Sharif, the consensus candidate of the PML-N and PPP, received 201 votes in the 336-member Parliament. The February 8 polls were marred by disturbances and allegations of vote rigging, with Shahbaz Sharif’s party winning 75 seats out of the 265 available.
