Two states, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, are heading into their assembly elections along with the Lok Sabha elections. Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Odisha, has maintained a strong relationship with the central government, whether it be the UPA or NDA, which has helped him secure victories in the state consistently since 2004. Despite the popularity of Prime Minister Modi, Patnaik has managed to hold onto his majority in the state. In Andhra Pradesh, both the ruling TDP and opposition YSRCP are looking to build alliances with the BJP in order to secure their positions in the upcoming elections. The simultaneous elections for both Lok Sabha and state assemblies, as well as the popularity of Prime Minister Modi, are factors influencing the ties between the state governments and the central government. Good relations with the Centre are seen as beneficial for the incumbent Chief Ministers seeking re-election.
