In preparation for the 2024 Loksabha Election, the Election Commission of India has developed a variety of mobile apps and websites to enhance the voter identification and registration process. These digital tools aim to provide citizens with easy access to information, improve voter engagement, and promote transparency and accountability in the electoral process. The Voter Helpline App allows users to search for their name in the electoral roll, register or modify their voter registration, download their digital voter slip, file complaints, and receive election-related news and updates. The Saksham App is designed to assist people with disabilities in participating in the electoral process by providing features such as voice assistance, text-to-speech, and information on polling stations. The Know Your Candidate (KYC) app allows voters to search for candidates by name and view information about their criminal antecedents, if any. The cVIGIL app enables citizens to report violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during elections by providing a platform to submit details of the incident, including location, time, and photographs or videos. Additionally, the Voter Portal and SVEEP website offer features for searching names in the electoral roll, registering as a new voter, making corrections, and engaging with peer groups to promote election awareness and participation. These apps and websites aim to make the election process more accessible, transparent, and efficient for voters, ultimately contributing to a more informed and ethical democratic system in India.
