With the Lok Sabha elections approaching, the political temperature in Delhi is on the rise as all the political parties are actively trying to establish their presence among the people of the city by exposing the shortcomings of the opposition parties. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is gearing up for a large-scale protest by surrounding the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters on February 2 to protest against the alleged rigging in the mayor elections in Chandigarh. The BJP, on the other hand, is also planning a protest at the AAP headquarters over corruption allegations against the government.
The AAP has accused the BJP of winning the Chandigarh Mayor election through malpractice and rigging, leading to a massive protest being organized by the party. The protest is expected to be joined by supporters from Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana, and will be led by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann. However, the Delhi Police has not given permission for the demonstration, leading to tightened security at the Singhu border to prevent AAP supporters from Punjab and Haryana from entering Delhi. Four hundred Delhi Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed at the border with four-level security checks to stop forced entry.
In response to the AAP protest, the BJP is also planning a protest at the AAP headquarters, accusing the Kejriwal government of corruption. The protest will be led by Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Virendra Sachdeva and Leader of Opposition Rambir Singh Bidhuri, along with BJP leaders and workers. The protest will start from Andhra School, DDU Marg, ITO and take the form of a sit-in at the AAP headquarters.
Overall, the political atmosphere in Delhi is heating up with both the AAP and the BJP gearing up for large-scale protests against each other. The upcoming Lok Sabha elections are driving the political parties to actively engage in exposing the shortcomings of the opposition parties to establish their presence among the people of Delhi. Both parties are making use of the protests as a means to reach out to and connect with the people of Delhi to gain support for the upcoming elections.
The protests by both parties also highlight the growing tensions and conflicts between the AAP and the BJP, as they continue to accuse each other of malpractice, rigging, and corruption. This indicates the fierce competition and political maneuvering that is currently taking place in Delhi in the lead up to the elections. Both parties are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to gain an upper hand and win the support of the people of Delhi, making the political scene in the city increasingly tumultuous.
